Crate bx440h!!!

I was never fond or crates but i found a used one for 125 and i had to get it and i am very suprised this destroys my backline 600 and the best thing about it AMERICAN MADE!
But i was just wondering anyone else have one

I have never played through one, but have played through the 220 version, which looks to be the same by 1/2. The 220 sounded quite good through the Crate 2-15 bottom that the guy had. Seemed to have a decent EQ, as I was able to dial in , my sound quite easily. The only thing to wacth for on them that I know of, is that some parts on them are quite fragile. The Graphic knobs can bust off easy, and the jacks are all solder to the board type plastic ones. Just make sure not to yank on or get a foot caught up on a cable and yank it hard. You may want to tie off the cables in a way so they can't be yanked at. Otherwise I think they are a good sounding and reliable head.

I myself have a Crate-BT-350 and there really is nothing wrong with the older, larger Crate amps, you can get good tone out of them, and they are pretty reliable .....

These old Crates were the shizz in the late 80's/early 90's, and sounded great for the money. I once had Crate 4x10 & 1x15 cabs running with a Crate SPA200 power amp and an Ampeg SVT-IIP preamp, and it made for a nice rig...

... until I went to the other side of the SLM production line and got an Ampeg 8x10 and an Ampeg AP3550 power amp.
