
Can you disconnect the tweeter at the crossover end?
It would seem to me like the problem is in the crossover. One way to validate that your speakers and tweeter are good is connecting them in the good Crazy88. Just an idea, I know you may not want to chance doing anything to your good Crazy88.
Testing the crossover is harder. You or an electronics technician could use a signal generator and oscilloscope, or the way I tested my crossover when building my Fearful, with a computer, audio interface, and the TrueRTA software that has a signal generator and oscilloscope function. But I think signal generators only produce low voltages/currents and you may not be able to replicate the fault. You do need to connect the speakers or put resistors with similar loads in their place to see the real crossover behavior.
But before that, the first thing to do on the crossover is check for obvious visible problems, like faulty connections, bulging capacitors, discolored/blackened parts, etc.
I’ve attached a pic of my crossover for reference: capacitors are the cylinders; the white rectangular ones are resistors; the red ones are coils.
