Crazy Chris Martin (Coldplay) Quote

Didn't the singer for Radiohead say something like this five years ago...but the irony came across as genuine and original?

Thom Yorke can come across as being a bit of a snugglemuffin but I think it's just his sense of humor. When I saw him playing in Glasgow he suggested everyone should move down south cause it rains too much here lol. Didn't go down with the crowd too well but you could tell he was joking.

Is there an irony deficiency going around?

I think it's caused by some sort of 'irony force field' somewhere over the middle of the Atlantic. It basically sucks the ability to detect irony out of the genes of people who pass through it when travelling west and leaves them, and their progeny, bereft.

There is a small percentage of hardy souls whose sense of irony survived this phenomenon and, thankfully, a small percentage of US citizens remain who still get it. This may have something to do with the method by which their forebears arrived in the new world - those that travelled by sea spent longer in the force field and were more deeply affected.

When travelling east, the polarity of the field is reversed and people are imbued with an over developed sense of irony to the extent that it constitutes the vast percentage of their psyche.

Hope that helps ;)

That quote actually makes me want to listen to the album (or song, or jingle, or whatever the hell viva la vida is) just on the off chance he's right...

:D

No thanks. If there was any scrap of curiosity about what this sounded like it was squashed like a bug when I kept seeing their stupid clip that they ran during the NBA playoffs.

Yeah, but you gotta wait until I say "also, a tin teardrop."
