The claim is that this amp easily handles a 2 ohm load, but I had someone tell me it doesn't like to. Anyone have any experience with this amp? Will I have a problem running 3 or 4 8 ohm monitors off of it?

I have the XTi4000, which is nearly identical to yours except for the watts. It is designed to go as low as 2 ohms, but not in bridge mode (4 ohms).

I think I read here about some early XTi2000 units not doing so well at 2 Ohms, but that was quite a while ago.

There is no reason you should be seeing a 2 ohm load anywhere if you are running 3 or 4 8 ohm monitors off an XTi2000.

I think it is best practice in general to buy enough amp that you are not running anything at 2 ohms anyway, even with CA series or Macrotech caliber amps.

3 or 4 monitors off one side of the XTi2000.

We have the speakers we have, which is why I bought an amp that would do 2 ohms.

I have used multiple xti2000 and 1000 exclusively for monitors for the past 3-4 years, and its fine with 4 speakers. Only at one time did I have a fault, when I tried (4) 15" monitors with Radian horns, which I suspect were either rounded to 8 ohms, mislabeled, or modified.

A little tip however try to get the newer ones if you are buying used. I had weird issues with pre 2006 models. Random volume spiking and every now and then, one Chanel suddenly not working. (These were also both 1000's though) look for model numbers above the ones on this page,

Both the units I had problems with needed the firmware update. they were less erratic after the update, but still did not perform properly after the update.
