cubase LE

ok here's the deal...

I use cubase LE for my recording purposes, problem is that since I got a new computer and installed it, it doesn't want to export to any sort of .wma file. The old install on old computer was fine, but the new only allows .wav, .aiff, .rm, .mp3 (20 encodings max), and has the .wma option but it always gives some kind of error occured during mixdown message. Problem for me: WMP doesn't play WAV, AIFF, or RM.

The only difference besides hardware on the computers is that the new computer is XP Pro instead of XP home.

make sure you have all the appropriate drivers installed, and you might benefit from search on downloads . com for a mp3 - wma converter and installing it on your computer, as it may contain the information your comp. needs

hmm. ok, well, first call, get the latest drivers for all your hardware as stated above.

how about rendering to mp3? WMP definately plays them!

Does LE not render to mp3 maybe? I use sx which does so i am not sure! if it does not, get CDex, free download from www.download.com. it can convert wavs to mp3, mp3 to wav and vice versa.

so you can export as wav and then turn them to mp3 after!

LE does to mp3 but only a limited number of times.

and turning to wma from mp3 is pointless because it's going from one compressed form to another....which'll just make the end result not that good.

yeah, thats why im suggesting he mixes down to wav's as standard, and then coverts to mp3, if he wants to play on an mp3 player or whatever, using a small, free third party piece of software like cdex :)

then of course when you write a CD you can use your full-range wav's rather than putting mp3's on it
