Double Bass Curious about Double Bass Volume

As a new Shen owner and long-time EB player, I had a surprise when the guys said I was a bit TO loud with them. Of course, our Dobro player was sitting in the bass's
"sweet spot", about 6 feet away.
I'm playing unamped with acoustic guitar and
guitar/Dobro in our trio. It should be an eyeopener once I move to Xyex or gut-like strings in the near future.

so ... played my gig last night with no amp, in a trio with two amplified guitarists. But they were amplified only lightly, and I knew I could play the room (a bar I've played at before).
It went well ... other than the huge blister on my finger. But I did carry the room and people dug that.
