Custom Bass Designing Program Thing

I already posted this is the 'Basses' section, but I though you luthiering guys might know a bit more...

I managed to find (with a lot of trouble) two online custom g****r maker things, where you can select what parts you wanted, and it put them together and you got a virtual image of what your instrument looked like.

However, they are indeed for g****rs, and I haven't been able to find any for basses. I was wondering if anyone knew of any that had any basses on them?

scott french had something like this on his site. I believe it also included his bass designs.

Couldn't find the Scott French one. The guys in the Basses forum mentioned the one on the Dingwall website.

Anyone know of any with Jazz basses?

There's a TB member, beav2k, who will do photoshop mockups lbased on you specs for a low fee.

I do everything using Adobe Illustrator in full scale...

I use AutoCAD.

To make it look "real", gotta put into Paint/Photoshop/Illustrator, etc and put wood patterns and such.

Is that free? If not, does anyone know of any free 3D design programs that are easy to use?

AutoCad is anywhere between 900 and 3000 depending on the version (something like that) anyways it aint free thats for sure. Inventor is pretty cool and I would use it anytime for designing (if I needed to!) but its also made by AutoDesk and it aint free. Im sure you can find a trial version on their site. Good Luck in finding something free... unless its cracked.

Full versions of CAD are readily available on Torrent sites for free....

haha torrents, gods gift to those with an internet connection, even though most people use programs like autocad and websites to help look at what kind of bass they want, theres also the old pen paper ruler graphing calc. method, which to me proves most rewarding because i know exactly whats going into the bass im designing

Not a 3D programme but I use the Gimp (google it) for all my designs. It's a free photo editing programme much like photoshop.

Just do the designs life size and print out the templates
