    Up for sale is my Custom Simmons Clipper 5 string modeled after a 70s era Carl Thompson. The bass features:

    Zebra Wood Top
    Ash Body
    5 pc neck-thru Maple neck w Purple Heart stringers
    18mm string spacing, 34” scale length
    Bartolini Jazz pickups and 18v preamp
    Purple Heart removable ramp

    I’m the original owner of this bass and have taken great care of it. Bass ships in a padded gig bag, Continental US ONLY please. NO TRADES.     These are amazingly great basses, so much so that I own two of therm. Whoever buys this one will be grateful that they did.

    It’s a hybrid of a 70s Carl Thompson and a Dave Simmons bass.

    This is what Dave Simmons told me when he made me the bass but I can’t 100% confirm because he’s since passed.

    p.s. i posted the photo in a luthier's forum and general consensus was alder although a few people said it's possible it's ash...

    It’s hard to tell because of the finish but it sounds incredible either way.

    I met David at the Carolina Guitar Show in Spartanburg several years ago.
    Played a few different models he had, and pretty amazed!
