Custom G&L

My favorite looking bass has always been the 75 Fender Jazz with the natural finish and black blocks on a maple fretboard.
I've been playing a G&L now for a few years and loved everything about it. Now that they offer a JB that looks identical to the original Fender, I've been throwing around the idea of ordering one with the look I've always loved.
Does anyone have any stories about their experience ordering a custom G&L? I'm wondering about things like wait time, end product, ease of ordering. Any advice would help me a lot since I have always bought stock items only.

I had the pleasure of picking up an artist's endorsement for G&L here in Canada a couple of years ago. I was told by the Canadian importing company that the build time would be about 3 months. End result was pretty much as projected, 3 months from ordering including shipping cross border. The bass was an L-2000 with some custom neck tweaks & a graphite nut, plus a premium finish. Great product as delivered. Hope this helps!

That's great help. I'm also from Ottawa and was wondering about any extra wait time to get it through customs.

I ordered an L-1500 in 2006, and it took two months. I've read elsewhere that the wait is shorter now, presumably due to slower sales in the weak economy.

Unfortunately, I do not believe G&L offers blocks on the any of its basses, but at least binding is available.
