I suppose the same thing with natural finish and pearl blocks would instantly make it a "Marcus" bass, no? Never mind the hardware, electronics, neck shape, or even number of string, right?

Just wondering, is it out of admiration to Geddy himself, or some other reason, that many people like calling things that are very different from a Geddy a Geddy.

I built my Geddy Vee casue there is no 5 string version by Fender. I don't like BA bridges so I didn't built it with one. I heard good things about the Nord Big Single p/u's so I tried them and I'm glad I did cause they sound killer. I also prefer having an Active Bass, so I used the OBP-1. It may be a Geddy (70's Fender) looking bass, but I'm the one that's gonna play it after all.

Did I mention that Geddy is God.

I've been wondering this as well, although I'm mostly curious as to how those Nordies sound. Are they Fat Stacks or Big Singles? Any chance of a quick and dirty sound clip, Nino?

Here's my own Valenti Geddy Vee

Very similar to Nino's, but with matching headstock, obp-2 preamp instead of obp-1 and tone control.

Now thats sweet I might have missed it but do these valenti's have the same thin profile as the 4 string Geddy Lee? How much does something like the above pic cost?

You don't need to call them. A good hardware store should have silver colored set screws in the proper length. That's all they are anyway. Just pull one and head down to the store. WARNING - don't get stainless steel because they aren't ferrous and magnetic.

BTW, for anyone who's interested... the DarkStar/Model J combo sounds absolutely KILLER! It can go from really smooth (DS solo, with tone rolled off), to Jaco-esque (Model J solo, tone at 50%), to the most biting, growly, mildly percussive and slightly overdriven (both pups full on, tone dimed, digging in nice and hard with the fingers) tone I've ever heard. As you can tell, I'm really diggin the Darkstar. I have a heavy touch, and tend to dig in quite a bit, and this pickup is perfect for that... it takes everything you can give it.
