Well, after a week or so of sanding,sweat,blood and blisters in the hot california sun..my homemade relic'd SX {essex} is done. The tuners didn't quite come out like I wanted, the chrome is very thin on the stock SX tuners..i guess I could buy another set of those and try again. But you could see how orange that "vintage" tint was compared to the real wood underneath...citistrip? we don't need no stinkin' stripper..just some 150 grit and elbow grease :hyper::p...hope you guys dig this, worst came to worse it's just a $169 bass..and now it looks either horrible or great depending on your perspective...let me know what you think.

less is more you did good on that.

Not to bad glad you did not drag it behind a car or anything, to many people take off 80% of the finish when they relic sure some real basses got played that much but not many.

Thank You guys...i appreciate it, I thought about the more random knicks here and there but didn't want to get in more than was safe ...because once you do them, there's no going back lol. I will look at a random sampling of net pics and see what I will add extra :D I wanted a medium relic-look anyway, not one of those rediculously destroyed basses.

Just start small. Little dents, scratches.

Go big... or go home!

LCW: I took me about 10 seconds to get through the factory paint on the body with 150 grit, it's pretty thin actually..I've never played on a Fender with that nitro cellulose finish so I am not sure how much thicker it is...but this was easy!

VINX:It needs the B-string saddle lowered, looking for an alan-key to fit it lol..otherwise yeah pretty much.:cool:Glad you like it! I am digging the anti-orange neck lol!:p Oh yeah, the neck is also Tung-Oiled lightly as well and pretty dang smooth on the back!
