Cutting out

Last night at rehearsal, I kept cutting out. Like just going dead.

Yamaha RBX4A2 -> Zoom B2.1u -> DI -> house PA.

I tried diff cables, unplugging from the zoom, using Zoom as DI.

Any idea what to look at. Bass is fairly new. Could I have been overdriving and clipping out at the PA? It didn't start until later in the set, and got worse. Something overheating?

Any suggestions as to what to look at?

Sounds like you've ruled out everything but the bass & the PA. What IS the PA & what's going into it?

Does the PA have means to meter your channel?

Did the whole PA cut out, or was it just your bass signal?
Did you try another DI?

Just my signal at first, but then the monitor the guitarist and I just went out later. Sounds more like the pa doesn't it.

Don't know what type PA but we had no sound man last night, so it was just the group. The PA was at our church, and the mixer was in the booth, so no one was monitoring it.

Yeah, it does sorta. If the amp is heating up too hot it will shutdown, or at least the good ones will. You might want to dig that thing out of its hole and make sure it has good air flow around it, and that all air inlets are clean. It may be too late, and it is just gonna die on you at some point. Usually at the wrong time.

If it were only the bass having issues I would look at another connection method to the PA, ie. another tested working DI box.

"At first", were you dying FOH, Monitor, or both?

Were you folks playing at the usual level or did you crank it up?

AND, anything else about the situation that might help someone infer what's occurring?

Might be a bum XLR cable going to the PA. 9 times out of 10, cutting out is due to a wonky cable or connection.

We were cranked a little louder than usual, but other than that it was the normal group except the sound man. This morning, sound man was there, and we never had any issues. Played about 4hrs Friday night and it was later in that it was starting to cut, it really sounds like a heating issue. That's what we'll check make sure the amps have good flow.
