Get an old Stu Hamm CD and that's what they sound like.

Right on, a Kubicki owner chiming in here!

Stu coaxed "one" sorta tone from his Kubicki basses. I've heard people say they have no bottom, in which case, may I direct you to the sound samples courtesy of Vail Johnson at www.kubicki.com. He gets great tones from them too, and his albums are pretty cool!

That said, the bass doesn't look rootsy at all, but it works great for me in my fusion playing, and to be truthful, I love the 80's aesthetics! When I get it out of the case I still look at it in the mirror and think "Yep...."
