D R highbeams

I purchased my 1st set of dr strings. I have been using ghs boomers for a long time on my jazz bass. Im very impressed with the dr's! They sound amazing and are very flexible and easy to play! Time will tell but I don't see myself rushing back to ghs?

Yeah HiBeams are great strings, but so are Boomers. Those two are just pretty much polar opposites of each other.

HiBeams are low tension, round core stainless steel.
Boomers are higher tension, hex core nickel.

Just comes down to what works better for you!

GHS sound great and are cheap. I stopped using them as they just didn't last. They die really quick IME.

YMMV, but the Highbeams should retain their "newness" much longer.

I just put Hibeams on my jazz last night (45-105). I am very impressed. They sound more natural and punchy than the D'addario EXL220 (040-100) nickel wounds I put on the day before. I think the DRs are a good match to the Fender jazz.

The Hi-Beams are round core. They will always feel more flexible.

hi beams are sweet.

I prefer the lo-riders now myself. more string tension and less bright. I like to dig in alot and the roundcores dont do it for me anymore.

I think DR makes the best roundwounds imo. i played on rotosounds for a while but got sick of them.

I used rotosounds in the 80's when i was playing a rickenbacker, they sounded great but they really ate up the frets!
