Every once in a while, YouTube algorithm drops something unexpected on my watch suggestions.
With so much music being uploaded daily, musicians have almost zero chance of becoming the next big thing. The music is not enough. In fact, most audiences don't care about the music -- they are going to shows for a performance. I see a lot of "cover" videos on YouTube where the performer is sitting in a chair staring at their fretboard, trying to impress with chops, or just wanking. But the stage performance piece is missing.
This video, imo, is what a cover video should be. Yes, it's a cover, but it's also a vibe and an attitude. It's not about the chops. It's about the presentation.
Brianna is 20 years old. Playing punk rock. Singing punk rock. In Baltimore. In 2025. And is recording through a knockoff interface into a ten year old laptop with Bandlab. (check out her soundcloud / bandcamp)
There is a lot here to admire, and I hope this young person goes places.
