D'addario Chromes B-string too long?

I just picked up a set of D'addario Chromes for my Ibanez SR505. And yes they're XL (ECB81-5).

But the B-string is a good inch+ too long before the taper/silk, meaning that if I actually strung it the actual B-string itself would be wound on the peg.

For comparison, I put it next to my old D'addario roundwound B-string:

Is this a manufacturing defect or are all D'addario Chromes like this? (All my other strings in this set are the proper length).

Looks like they mispackaged and stuck a super long B in there. Can you string through body?

No, just through bridge. I'm debating on whether to ask D'addario for a replacement or just exchange the set from where I bought it. I have to play Wednesday so the latter is more convenient, but I'm worried that they have more mispackaged sets like this.

I would definately contact the company and ask them to correct the problem! A dissatified customer can kill business

ddawson2012, If I may hijack this thread for a minute, why do some D'addario bass sets have silk wraps at the headstock end while others do not? Thanks!
