D'Addario prosteels vs DR Hi beams

Hi,
I have been using the HI Beams and also the fat beams on my basses forever.the gauges are 45/65/85/105/125. I'm a Marcus fan so that's the reason why DR.
But recently I saw a video of John Pena who also is one of my favorite players and he endorses D'Addario prosteels EPS 170 45/65/85/100/130
My question is how do they compare?
I'm trying to get the D on the B string to sound more like a detuned D (open) on the E string. I'm wondering if a fatter B string is more likely to give me that.
How about the thinner A and B string on the D"Addario set. How does that affect the tone and also the ability to play with very little string buzz

You'll notice Fat Beams have a bigger bass/low mid response, crispy treble but slightly muted hi-mids, along with a lot less tension. Great for slapping, very supple. Think Marcus Miller... That's his string, that's his sound.

Pro Steels are extremely bright, don't have the loud bass/low mids, but have an even sound from high mids to the bottom of the frequency spectrum. They have a pretty high tension, or at least higher than DR Beam strings (Hi Beams/Fat Beams).

Some say Pro Steels are "scooped" sounding, and I'll agree and say that Fat Beams are also scooped while having a bit more low mids than the D'Addarios, and the D'Addarios have a little bit more ZING.

This is my first post so may be of some use or maybe not lol
I love prosteels on my precision bass they give me a nice bright tone for aggressive finger style. I play with fingers and the proteels make my precision sound like its being played with a pick which I feel is subconsciously what I'm looking for as I love the sound of lines like longview by greenday etc.

I must say that I prefer them after they have been broken in I also feel that they are extremely reliable and last for me 3-4 months. I have tried many ss strings but come back to these. I'd say i'm comfortable with these! I know what I'm going to get and I like what I get! +1 for the mid scoop I feel these strings are very full in the bottom end and full in the top which kinda makes the bass sound and respond more like an active bass imo. Playing a musicman stingray for nearly 7 years probs has something to do with me liking this

I used to use DR hi beams on my musicman and they are without doubt the best strings I've used for that bass. Think its the round core which makes them more flexible for slapping and funk etc. I havn't used these for a while as I have had a bit of an experiment over the last few years. D'addario XL nickels I fund are good for this bass but I want to try hi beams again

Haven't tried the Hi-beams but the pro steels are very bright and supple, very squeaky with glissando techniques.

I recently tried Pro Steel's as they cost less than the Hi-Beams. The Pro Steel's failed to wow me. They are bright and have decent low but no mids at all. They sound kinda boring compared to the Hi-Beams. Honestly I would not recommend a switch from Hi-beams to pro steel's.
