Dan Wheldon: 1978 - 2011

well, I have some awful news...Westboro is planning on protesting Dan's funeral.....I don't think these guys understand what a special group "crazy" racing drivers are in, or how much **** they're about to find themselves in.....we're people who think the idea of a perfect weekend is nothing but driving 10/10ths around a track in a vehicle that surely has a thing for killing it's drivers.....oh, and most of us seem to be into shooting, and are actually really great shots, while all being in great shape.....these "christians" need a good ole fashioned ass whipping...better yet, let's break out the goddamn rope...

oh yea, Dan was an ambassador and representative for the National Guard.....good idea on them pissing off the military and hundreds of thousands of the weirdest people you'll ever meet.....I hope they're given a slow death.....

Man, it seems like no one can have a funeral without them showing up lately.
Never been a huge racing fan, but i was really sad when i heard about this. RIP

One thing I think has gone fairly under the radar.......15 cars, and Wheldon aside, no real injuries. In my 30 some years of watching racing that's the worst one I've ever seen. Amazing at the safety built into the cars. I think this one boils down to a one in a million freak shot. Tragic all around. I liked Wheldon. Would have loved to see him run full time.

RIP Dan,
Indycar is a joke, that race had no reason to happen, high banked oval, old unsafe cars, packed racing with a bunch of "has beens, wannabes and neverweres"

remeber kenny brack at Texas? Indy car CRASH [Highest G-force ever!] - YouTube
those cars always had a tendency to go airborne, CART had it's share of bad accidents back in the day but SAFETY was always a big part of the series, screw you tony george and your piece of crap series.

RIP That crash was horrible to watch, when they showed the car cam views (Danikas car and a couple others) unbeliveable seeing all the parts flying around and at that speed nothing you can do but ride it out with all the padding and neckbraces and protection still so helpless when this kind of targic event happens and with everyone waiting around to find out what the status was of Dan must have been very hard on them when they did finally anounce that he had passed away was very sad and to do the five lap salute just after finding out he had passed was very heartfelt. I read that he and his wife got eachothers initials tattooed on their wrists the night before the race....
