Danelectro "Dead On" '58s appear online

Almost bought one at a pawn shop in the early '70's. Probably about $80. Would've been a lot of money for me a the time.

Just couldn't love the look. Ended up with a P-bass that was unplayable due to neck issues. (Though I probably could have fixed it...just didn't know it.)

I like this color combo better. That one was red and white burst.

Looks like Musician's Friend needs to hire someone to proofread their ad copy:

The Dead On '58 Longhorn Electric Bass Guitar from Danelectro is an authentic Gretsch reissue that features a radical longhorn cutaway body style that gives complete fretboard access, a satin copper burst finish, nickel hardware, a truss rod that adjusts at the headstock, the original swivel rosewood bridge that intonates, and Lipstick pickups.

Those who have played them, are you sure it was a "Dead On '58"? Musician's Friend only has them for "pre-order", which suggests that they're not available yet.

Also:

Things are usually available for sale well before they actually hit online stores as stores display merch as soon as they get it.

People need to get out more often.:p Or maybe I do...:hmm:

I never thought much about the longhorns, until I discovered Bruce Thomas played one for a while during his mid-90s "reunion" with Elvis Costello.
