I have a little bit of cash burning a hole in my pocket. I am a certified amp slut so of course I am looking for something to buy.

My current stash is as follows:

SWR SM400S

Peavey Mark Series Slave Amp

Ampeg Classic 115

I have thought about trying the Aural Enhancer Bypass Mod on my SWR but other than that, I'm not super attached to the head.

I have also thought about trying to find a preamp for the Peavey slave.

I've also thought about getting new cabs. Maybe something lightweight like 2 GK MBE cabs.

I'd even be willing to trade or sell everything for right piece of gear.

The Mesa M3 really caught me eye. It's the perfect amount of features for me and it sounds great. I appears to be plenty loud (during my quick GC test). I haven't had the opportunity to put it through its paces but, I am hoping that one of these and an 810 would be enough for a loud rock/metal band.

The price is a little high because I only have about $600 to spend.

I play mostly rock and metal. I will be trying out for a metal band soon. If I get the gig, that would be a good excuse for some fresh gear.

I have no specific question. I'm just looking for some fun gear ideas.

Thoughts?

Advice?

Ideas?

I love the Genz Benz stuff I've played through at the store... I'm not sure how easy they are to find used though. I also like some of the GK stuff.

I like GK stuff. Especially the 800RB. I have read somewhere that the 800RB heads have their HPF's set pretty high. I'm concerned it may not work for some of the low tuning stuff I have been experimenting with.

Am I crazy? Is this even remotely true?

Honestly if you can find one and it will be used and have no support. Look for an ADA MB1 Preamp and foot switch. I owned one for a bout 10 years and kind of miss it now that I'm ampless. It has preset amp models the ability to use or defeat the tube, Tons of room for presets, built in distortion and chorus. I had to have some minor work on mine done just befoere I sold it but other than that it was pretty bullet proof. I sold mine when my group split and I knew I wasn't going to be gigging anymore...or so I thought.

After that I have had really good success dialing booming tones from Carvin gear.
