Dark Eko 995

Hey Justin,

I picked up an EKO 995 for dirt cheap, and after reading so many great things about it here over the years, I just couldn’t resist pulling the trigger. I sent it straight to my luthier for a setup, and he found a capacitor in the neck pickup circuit that cuts a lot of high frequencies.

I remembered your comments about the bass sounding really dark, and that led me to a question: were you aware of that capacitor in the circuit? Also, what pickup configuration do you usually use on that bass — neck + bridge?

If the bass feels too dark in certain situations, I guess you could experiment with the circuit, remove the capacitor, and see what happens. If you didn’t already know about it, maybe this could be useful information for you too :)

Thanks as always!
