Just pulled the trigger on a darkglass TC for my Yamaha rbx Jm6

the controls were weird and you could feel the center positions

what’s everyone’s experience with it’s general tone? Is it coloured ? Transparent ?

what don’t you like about it?

It's colored, but not in a bad way. The EQ points are different from what you're used to. The bass is at 70hz, which seems high, but the preamp can go really deep, so it's a really wide shelf. There's a low-mid rather than a straight mid, centered at 500hz and then a high mid at 2.8k. The high mid is sort of 'finger and fret-noise zone. The preamp doesn't touch the true upper treble range, which remains present even when you roll back 2.8k.

It can get some edge to it...if you're pushing things you get a little bit of graininess to the overall tone in the mids/high-mids which comes across as a pretty 'modern' vibe.

I had to double-check this, I was certain the frequencies were 80, 250, and 750… you are right according to the DG website. Either they changed or I remembered wong

Just installed one in mt my Warwick is it good for slap 👋🏽 is equivalent of asking fish 🐟 if they love water 💦. Its marvelous pre amp after you learn how tweak it cause it doesn’t have treble … its bass …. Low mids and high mids . Till you learn eq points you’ll struggle get sound you want . When my bass 1st came back from Sweetwater I was initially disappointed in the darkglass tone capsule . Then after playing with it I discovered the tonal variations are endless . From slap 👋🏽… finger style … r&b…. Funk … country… gospel this pre amp is 💯 beast
