I was recently in the market for a new preamp/DI that would live on my pedal board for session dates and silent stage situations. After doing some research into options that could emulate a gooey, well balanced tube tone that wouldn't get overly boomy and woofer like, I landed on a Darkglass Vintage Deluxe V3 (a Noble amp would have been the natural option but was just multiple hundred dollars out of my price range).
I tried to do some research into Vintage Deluxe examples of a cleaner and subtle tube tone and did not find many. I decided to record a quick example myself if anyone else is interested. Apologies for my novice mixing and production skills - I did this mostly in a haste.
Signal chain:
Am. Std P Bass > Diamond Bass Compressor Jr. > Darkglass Vintage Deluxe V3 (DI Out) > Focusrite Scarlett Solo > Garageband
If people have interest, let me know and I can throw together some more examples of different genres, tones, etc.
