Darkstar fivers?

Does anyone know if there will be a five string Darkstar pickup? I dig all the reviews I've read so far but would love to have that kind of pickup/sound in a fiver. Is there hope?

I believe Fred has been having difficulty with his magnet supplier. I believe some proto's have been made, but no production model YET. It's definately coming soon though.

Hmmm, that's good news! I hope he can get things worked out soon, it would be a very cool option to think about in a Warmoth project idea I'm tossing around...

I have heard of them making pickups especially for certain clients, if a particular string spacing etc is required so why not ring them up and ask if it could be done?

It CAN and WILL be done, it's just a matter of getting the right magnets, which I believe is where his problem is. He's been working on the design of these pickups for months and IIRC is almost ready to move into production... as soon as magnets can be procured.

That is good news. Does anyone know if the routing dimensions are known yet, or if possibly Warmoth will offer routing for them? And yes, I realize these questions are kind of jumping the gun a bit...

Warmoth offers the routing for the Darkstar 4 strings for an additional charge, so I assume the fivers will to.

Thanks! I didn't know they did the four, so it sounds logical that they would the five. I might have to green light this project when these hit the market!
