See and hear the notorious DarkStar'd Tele on youtube:
    The Fried Crawdaddies:
"What a Fool" written by pianist John D'Agostino:

written by now deceased songwriter Jerome Wheeler...
Pretty sloppy rendition by various former members of the band as part of a fundraiser for his surviving family...

I've had that bass for 25 years or so?
The stock pickup just really didn't work for me.
Which really bit it, as it's very light and resonant, got a grrrrreat neck, and I just dig that particular look.

The DarkStar has got this one firmly back in rotation.
Big, broad frequency response single coil thunder; and crazy as it sounds, has enough top end-even up there next to the fingerboard-to have creditable slap tone.

If i didn't know any better, I would think that you were a fan of the darkstar! Thanks for the posts...

And do you think that there were enough guitar players in that second video? I think there may have been enough room for about 5 or 6 more. :)

    I highly recommend it.
Yessir, it's a real tight pickup; not at all the unfocused mudbucker the stock one is.

i've always wanted to find a beat to crap 70's tele bass and put a dark star in it. well actually 2 of them (one in the bridge position).

other than finding one that someone's routed, i don't know if i have the heart to have one routed for another dark star.

  18. The term is *zombie thread*
It's only *dead* until someone summons it from beyond the grave...

great idea, and someone photochopped one in the mudbucker thread.

  20. Always liked their sound, but I'll be dead before the DS-5B is available. Aero is the closest to my ears. Single coil, yet very wide freq response w/o peaks. Well, maybe I'll live long enough.
