Date stamp on old 1969-71 P Bass ??

That bass definitely started life as Sunburst

I have a 73' pbass and it has a 71' neck on it.

The stamp on mine just reads 07 71

Unfortunately the picture i have is on my old phone which broke last week, i won't be disassembling the bass for a bit.

I think if you search for 1973 fender you'll find my thread i started when i first got the bass it has lots of pictures

Definitely looks like a factory sunburst. The neck asymetry could just be the light/angle but that's a deal breaker if it's there.

No help on dating sorry. I have a 72 P neck but it has the month and year stamped.

if you look really closely you can see that the white is under the red and black , I've checked it closely to make sure

wishful thinking.

After checking this one out it is really just a REFIN guitar , it has 2 extra holes in the top side next to the pick guard + If Im gonna get a refin. I may as well pay a refin. price and thats NOT this one.

I would never call myself an expert but I would say that I have come across the 27 vintage fender bass guitars in my collection and found this to be a perfect example of a 1969 through 1971 stamp. My 70 has that exact same stamp my 69 has that exact same stamp and my 71 has that exact same stamp.

If the traces of sunburst are under the white, it could be factory.
Sometimes if they needed more solid color bodies than they had on hand they would paint over sunbursts in stock, starting with the ones that just didn't look good.
Since the grain was already sealed, it saved some time and made use of the bursts that didn't quite come out right.

If you look at the body side there is no sunburst colors under the white so the white had to go on first IMO
