David Shields Appreciation Thread

I've been trying to find out more about his body of work. There is surprisingly little information about this ABSOLUTE BEAST of a bassplayer that recorded for Motown. The guy just embodies swagger, energy, groove and taste, as far as I'm concerned. He had an incredible way of finding those spots within the music to shine without ever overdoing it. It's kind of baffling to me that I hadn't heard of him until recently.

I thought I'd start a thread and hopefully some of you can share knowledge about his great bass playing legacy.

Just found out that he played on the Memphis Horns album Get Up and Dance. The personnel isn't listed anywhere online so I had to pick up the vinyl to figure it out. Here's my favourite bassline from it:
