i went cab shopping today!
i tried lots of stuff but the main reason iwent is because my other cab farts out! thinking that the cab was screwed i set out to buy a new one.

low and behold every cab was farty!!
so that tells me its my amp!

i wasn't even playing that loud i've heard guys complain bout the 359 having little juice but i refuse to believe that its that little!!!

i really wanted to get the nv610 but it was farty at not very high volume mostly in the lower register.
i've just recently dialed in and bias is perfect.

does any of this sound familier?

this is not lack of headroom (i don't think) its plain ole farting out!
i'm so frustraded!! i don't have time for this i like to play more than i like to mess with gear!!
i want to get all this behind me so i can RAWK!!!
should i just buy another amp??

How old is the amp and does it have the original tubes?

My DB359 gets pretty loud going through a Genz Benz XB2 4-10 cabinet. If I have the gain in the 10 o'clock position and the main in the 11 o'clock it is rocking pretty loud. The Genz is a 4 ohm cabinet. I made my own speaker cable soldering 8-2 gauge wire to my 1/4" phone plugs.

Which cabinets were you trying?

My experience with a DB359 was with a 55-94 through a db359 into a Aguilar 4x10. It would hard clip at fairly reasonable volume on the low B. The DB359 is known for its' juicy tube'y tone but not big power and head room. What you need are effecient cabs. From my experience you need to look into Bag End.

played through a nv610 (farted real fast)
2 db112's lack of volume and still farted out
and finally and suprisingly a db410 lots of volume and body nice full range cab with lots of punch but still clips out!!
i wonder if its a pre amp tube thing

btw thanks for the input

also that db 410 is awsome great cab!!

From what you write you are trying to decide if the amp doesn't have enough power for your needs or there is just something wrong with it, right? It is my opinion that the db359 just doesn't have enough power for your needs given the speakers you've tried.
