Double Bass DB pickup suggestions

Pardon me, I know this has been covered, so I would appreciate being admonished(sarcastically if needs be) & guided to the appropriate thread(s). I have a radio shack piezo + K&K pure preamp; I'm looking to replace the 'pickup', & if neccesary, the pre. Dumping depandance on a 9V battery would be priceless. Thanks.

I read one that looked similar, but all the threads under the main heading were old & wouldn't come up. Surely my poor search skills, or my evil computer. This link, as well as the ones in it, seem to be working fine- thanks, again.
The funny thing is, the problem that prompted all this has seemingly gone away...
