DB player looking for BG books/courses to learn ideal BG fingering methods

In my opinion, the fingerings on BG are best studied through the tetrachord system. After you master that system, the whole fretboard opens up rather easily.

Yeah, my teacher from back in my high school days published a bass method. Look for The Complete Electric Bass Method by Dave Overthrow. I'm not aware of any other method that teaches the tetrachord system. You'd need all three volumes, or the all-in-one book, as maj scale is in book 1, maj scale modes are in book 2 and then harm/mel minor and their modes get covered in the third book.

I've added a little bit to the system as part of my own teaching practice, both for bass and guitar. If you get the books and work through them, and are looking to add a little to the concepts, hit me up some time.

For your info the tetrachord is a way to split a scale in two parts. The interesting part is that some scales have 2 identical tetrachords.

The Major scale is built on 2 symmetric TC. W-W-H then a whole tone that links the second half of W-W-H. Then you've got your major scale.

You can do the same with Dorian and Phrygian and the Whole-tone scale. The diminished scale with a half-step in between.

The idea is to find a fingering for 4 notes only. Then you can move this up and down the neck as you which or just play the ascending cycle of fifth like an endless scale
