dbx DriveRack PA+: Addt'l PEQ or GEQ Required?

Right on, haven't used the new DRPA+, we have the older models in our racks. Looks like I'm going to have to make my boss upgrade 8*). I'd still run your subs if you have them mono.

I can promise the outside gig will be much easier to tweak, just make sure if the temp changes majorly to tweak your top/mid/sub delays. We do a lot of outdoor festivals and once the sun goes down everything changes.

Which RTA mic did you happen to pick up?

Can't recall the RTA mic make / model but it came with the package.

Re: DRPA's para EQ. The Q is variable on each band from 0.20 to 16.0 or something similar. Is this expressed in octaves or something different? Reason I'm asking is the notch (on the display) appears to narrow as the value increases.

With a 260 you can attach a laptop and have the 1/3 octaves on the screen, just as easy as an outboard unit, making the addtional unit redundant.
Laptop at FOH, also makes a great walkin-out music player. And record right off the board with it all at the same time.:-)

This is very true. I'm just afraid that, if someone sees a laptop on the stage, they'll think I'm sequencing stuff, which I totally despise.

I've added the above link to my Favorites....probably one of the better explanations I've read.

I traced my confusion back to my Rane PE 15 which expresses Q bandwidth in octaves (.03 - 1.5) unlike the DRPA. Here are two Q settings and the equivalent octave bandwidths (according to the pdf):

"Q" of 4 = 1/3 octave (typical GEQ slider?)

"Q" of 0.5 = 2 1/2 octaves (wiiiide notch?)

It's not 'Q bandwidth'. It's Q (for 'quality factor') or bandwidth, two different things.

No, I am not "for real" when it comes to doing live sound but since I'm the only one of five with the ambition and resources (including TalkBass), the job is now mine and its a daunting task. I've learned there's no immediate gratification when dealing with sound reinforcement. I've had to assemble and operate a passable PA rig in fairly short-order and taken shortcuts in the process. Its getting better, though.
