DC Stores

Jive Sound in Alexandria. Only open Saturdays and Fridays (4-7). That's about it. Veneman's in Rockville, MD was bought out by GC but of the three local GCs (Arlington, Fairfax) it has the best bass selection. There is Melodee Music in Sterling, VA but it's mostly Fenders and Peaveys.

Check out Bass Specialities in BenSalem, PA. They have an excellent selection of basses and amps and it may be closer to you than DC. I did a day trip from DC mainly because there isn't much around here. Jive Sound is good but he has odd hours.

Wow!!:( Not too much seems to be happening in the DC area as far as stores. I remember buying my Aria SB-1000 down at Veneman's and that place was really hoppin' then!

I'll think I'm going to look around Pittsburgh.

Check out Chuck Levin's Washington music center in Wheaton. 1 block north of the metro station.
It's PRS central.

Atomic has 2 locations, the big one and the best is in Bowie, and the smaller one is in Rockville. There were a couple of Ken Smith basses last time I was over in the Beltsville store. But as said it's hit or miss there.

Veneman's is now a Guitar center. They do ocasionally have some nice used gear though.

Victor Litz up in Gaithersburg is mostly low end entry level stuff.
have fun

Like the other guys said:

Chuck Levins is a must!!

Atomic Music is nice and often they have some cool stuff that you might like, but its all luck really.

There's also a a good store in Alexandria, VA called Acoustic Axis. Last time I went there they had a range of Ashdown and Traynor amps, as well as a bunch of G&L and Tribute guitars and basses and Spector basses, among other things. Thats actually where I bought my L2000 and I got a super nice deal on it and I don't even have any connections there.

jive sound is definitely where its at. just picked up a aguilar gs112 and jong gave me an awesome deal.

Just bumping to recommend jive sound. Jong set-up my silly SX while I waited and consulted me away from putting a Gotoh 206 on it. The store is crazy. I'm not one for the boutique basses, but he had several lakland jazzes that I'd love to acquire. He also had some really great amps and cabs. Very nice and laid back.

P.S. Jong, I'm going to pass on the GS112NT. I scored a used aggie S210 on the boards here.
