De-Fretto

Howdy,
I'm sure some one has done this. I have an Ibenez EDB600, and want to de-fret it. I'm fairly competent with tools, just looking for experiences.

One thing i learned is that you should NOT use a screwdriver to take the frets out.
Use one of these: (don't know English word for it, Hovtång in Swedish )

get a pair of end cutters(small set) grind the top until the edge is just about flush, now you have a fret puller. OR you can get one from Ebay, Stew Mac, LMII, etc.

Get a soldering iron, and heat up the fret, slowly begin at 1 end and start lifting the fret up with your fret puller, working your way across the length of the fret with the iron and puller. This is the correct way to pull frets.

Also, to keep the chipping to a minimum, tape mask the fretboard on each side of the fret before pulling.

I found that oiling the fretboard the night before also helped.

PS - Musoclogic makes a good point, too. It helps to have a tool similar to the one Linkert posted the image of.
