Dead Strings Outta The Box

i researched this on these forums and found posts about strings going dead soon or even breaking but nothing on potential "bad batches" or expired strings.
I have two identical basses and installed both with two identical packs of D'addarios. One bass got played throughout the week and one did not. I played the bass that I left alone for a week (stayed in the case) and the strings are effectively dead. No zing or anything. If I didn't know better I'd swear they were 2 months old.

Y'all's thoughts are appreciated.

Where did you buy the strings? Fake D'Addario's are an actual thing, so that's a possibility.

^^^This Is Very Real^^^ Had a slew of counterfeit D'Addarios surface in a bunch of pawn shops in central Virginia. Buyer Beware!
