dead weather effect

hiya
I've been listening to the latest dead weather album and found an effect that I've gone mental over, its the last 20 seconds of the invisible man track. first I thought it was a synth but after listening to it on some great headphones I thought I heard some picking. like to hear if anyone thinks the same and what effect pedals he would have going...

Jack Lawrence (Live at least) uses two Electro Harmonix Bass Micro Synths and a Fulltone Bass Drive. listening to that part of the track, i think that it might actually be a guitar through some kind of crazy fuzz

thanks guys, think devi ever may have had a part in this, the bit mangler made my brain explode so thanks dannster.
i did try looking up live videos and he does use the ehx's and some distortion but it was nowhere near the fuzz that invisible has on recording
thanks again!

after thinking about it, i realized that the same sound is used in Salute Your Solution by the Raconteurs at about 1:48. try finding the Raconteurs Jack White board and see if there is something there that can help you.

You bet! That's the first thing that came to mind. He may use something different live but I was going for what I hear in that song.
Here's Devi with a synth mangler on bass...
