Double Bass Dealing with Sympathetic Vibrations

I have a huge sympathetic vibration problem that I just can't seem to get rid of (while playing arco through my amp). Everytime I play the E on the G-string or the first E on the A-string. I hear the E harmonic on the E-string and even on the A-string.

I already have a vibramute and it helps a little. However, the problem is still very noticeable. Any suggestions?

Let me try a suggestion. First play your bass amplified in one room with the cord running into the other room with your amp. Have someone sit in that room and see if the problematic sympathetic vibration comes through. If so then the problem is with your bass/pickup; if not it's some feedback induced effect from your amplification. I suspect that it's the latter and that you need to follow the guidance previously given on feedback: Don't stand in front of your cabinet, try different pickups, etc. There are plenty of threads on feedback.

By feedback I don't mean squeeling, I mean that the amplified sound is causing the sympathetic strings to vibrate much more strongly.
