I have had this Dean EABC5 string bass for years and love it but never purchased a proper hard case because they cost more that this bass when I originally purchased it. It was listed as a B-stock for a cosmetic flaw but for the life of me I have never found the reason, structurally, play ability and electronically it is flawless. It is one of the early models with the passive pickup so i use an external preamp and i did find a well padded bag for local travel but I have been reluctant for any other travel with this fine sounding bass. Even the Lo B and notes on the B string speak in tune and with authority.
Luckily Rikki ext 3490 at MF found a scratch and dent at a great price for me.

Keeping with my frugal theme i use a Behringer ADI21 as a preamp for the passive piezo, works like a charm. For recording I like to also use a Naiant condenser mic.
