On the Invalid Link Removed site, the description of the patchwork is the exact same as the burl maple, but you can see the patch has three knobs vs. four on the other. What's the difference? Thanks.

Taking a wild guess I'd say it's either passive or is set up volume, blend, active tone.

I talked to Jeff about this today...

"My bass is passive, but a lot of guys seem to like the active bass. As a compromize to them, Elliott Rubinson, the boss of Dean, and I decided to make it passive/active for those guys who loved the bass neck but wanted a choice in tone."-Jeff B.

And yes it is Volume, blend ,tone ...

I recently saw Jeff play with Simon Phillips. WOW. Amazing show, Jeff is funny too!
I also saw him with Bruford at the Park West in Chicago. Another great show.
Can’t wait for his next project/tour to come to Chicago.

Here's a couple of shots. This is the Bass that Dean made and Jeff played for a few months to give the go-ahead. Dean put me in contact with a dealer and I worked out the sale with him.
