I use rs 66 and have for a good 10 years exclusively. They're very similar to blue steel but don't last (brightness) as long. Awsome strings. The standard set used an 80 for A but they do have a set that has an 85 for A.

Have heard great things about those. Would go out and buy some as per your reccomendation right now but I'm shopping for my fretless, and I don't think stainless rounds would work out super well in the long run... unless... are they coarser than an NPS roundwound? I have GHS Bass Boomers on right now, and the feel is good for my fingers and the fingerboard but they're a bit dark for my taste.

Pino Palladino used to use Rotosound Swingbass on his Stingray fretless for years. Depending on how much you play and your technique (i.e. bending strings, vibrato) you will just need to get your fretboard dressed now and then. Tonewise they will give you lots of mwhah to your notes. The Jazz Bass 77's will have less wear on your fingerboard. They are quite smooth to the touch and will have less mwah. The Rotos will be brighter than the Boomers and have a slightly rougher feel, stainless steel vs nickel. I hope this helps!
