Double Bass Dean Pace Bass 5 string

I just purchased a Dean Pace Bass 5 string and it needs a new set of strings. What flats will fit? I tried Chromes, but the B string will not fit into the bridge. It appears to need taper core or exposed core. Any thoughts?

D'Addario makes some very nice tapered core strings.
