THAT just happened!!!!! DFA79 is officially the greatest band in the world now. their first show back after breaking up six years ago, and they incite a riot. cops on horseback. fans getting assaulted. pepper spray. tazers. fences torn down. show almost getting shut down halfway through.

DFA79 has reached legendary status.

well, their music did the job, anyway. writing it off as "clashing with the police" is sort of underscoring it. there were first hand accounts of cops punching fans in the alley, and you can see the pepper spray and tazers in the videos for yourself. there were around 400 people inside the ten, and 600 people outside in the alley, and they wanted in...then the cops showed up on horseback...

dunno. they haven't said anything about it. everyone is asking, but they haven't made a statement of any sort. right now, it looks like they're just doing festival shows. I assume it's to build up a budget for recording, or just to make money. but, it'd be idiotic not to write a new album. everyone wants them to. I just hope they don't self-implode again before they're able to release a new album. it would be a dream.

martyman5000: I feel you. I have a drummer currently for a project called Matador that's DAF79 influenced stuff, but not quite their sound. it's a bit more progressive. check it out at [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]

frozilla: the SXSW show was just a surprise/fun thing. they have festival gigs lined up around the world already, starting with Coachella.

also, for anyone interested, I'm in the process of making an all instrumental version of DFA79's "Heads Up!" EP and "You're a Woman, I'm a Machine" LP. I'm learning the bass parts, synth parts, and programming the drum parts. I'm about to put the drums to Dead Womb, and I'll continue on till "Heads Up, Mouths Shut!" is done, and I'll upload it somewhere on the internet avaliable for free download. I'll make a thread about it when that and "You're a Woman, I'm a Mutechine" are finished.
