I want add a new bass. I love my Mustang and can get the Jamerson sound pretty decent, but am looking for something that has a bridge pickup or humbucking pickup and can get that “burp” sound. Here’s the 3 finalists:

Fender Deluxe Active Precision Bass Special
- Maple 34” Jazz Neck
- Active/Passive P/J pickups
- High Mass Bridge
- A lot of bass for the money
- $999

Fender American Performer Mustang
- Rosewood 30” Scale Neck
- Passive Mustang/J pickups
- Lightweight tuning machines
- Most Expensive (but can sell my current Mustang)
- $1499

G&L Tribute Fallout
- Maple 30” Scale Neck
- Passive MFD pickup (not in bridge position)
- Least Expensive (but can it “burp?)
- $499

Which one would you get and why? I’ve pretty much settled on one of these 3, so I’m not looking for more options!

as good as the G&L is likely to be i don't think it's a 'burper' --- gotta have that bridge pickup! --- but unless i had to have a shorter scale for some reason(s), i think the overall best choice from your list, for "burp," is the fender precision special.

my .02, good luck with your burp quest!

I’m also looking at this, now.

I really prefer short scale, being a guitar player, and the fact I’m so used to my current Mustang. The price is right, and it would give me two more different pickup types from my current Mustang. I’ve been reading very favorable reviews.
