In your opinion, what are the deepest, punchiest sounding round wound string you have used?

ok, i guess i'll get the ball rolling with naming off my favorite strings...which is no doubt what everyone else will answer with, too:

Not my favorite but I think the deepest/darkest round is the GHS Boomer.

I haven't tried most of the rounds out there but Nickels work best for me. Duncans, Sunbeams and Lo-Riders.

Dean Markley Blue Steels, Low Riders SS, Fender 7250 in that order is my experience.

The fattest ones that will fit on your bass. On most 4 strings that's a .110 set. Take your pick. I can't noticeably tell a differene between them as far as tone goes, but some are easier on the fingers than others.

This based on my recent experience. If you want punchy low-end with a bit more sparkle than the Boomers, try the GHS Super Steels. Love'em

Agree 100% based on my recent sampling of many different strings. If you want a little bit more sparkle with the same punchy, tight sound, try the GHS Super Steels. Nice strings. The Rotos seemed to have more power with very similar punch and clarity, so I might give the edge to them. Very slight edge though
