Deep talkin flats , Mustang PJ , cutting string question .

Planning on putting a set of light gauge short scale DTF,s on a new Mustang , do I need to kink the string a little just before the cut area ? iam guessing the SS strings DTF ,s will work ok on one of these bass,s , will it probably work out to where mostly the silk part is what will wrap around the tuner on a mustang pj ? The set I ordered is 760FL-s 43-104 , Thanks .

With fat Fender tuning posts I've often found you don't need to cut some strings at all. But crimping before cutting can't hurt.

Put these on my Mustang PJ back in March and love them (for the tone I'm going for - old school thumpy).

I generally do a 90 degree 'crimp' about 1/2" before my cut point, but not sure if it's really necessary. As long as there's enough string wrapped around the tuning peg a couple times.

Just got them on , like them a lot better than what came stock , I play lead 98% of the time , but ocasenialy get a bass gig , I play old school traditional country , I think these should work good for that .
