Deep talkin vrs. Chromes flats

Just from some reading here some say chromes are brighter than labella dtf,s is it a really big differance or slight, iam liking the dtf on my mustang in general, but wish they were a little brighter , will it be considerably brighter to go to chromes? Thanks.

Yes Chromes will be brighter--they also have less mids (scooped) than the DTFs. I admit I don't care for Chromes and have tried to like them but they sound bright and hollow. Not what I want in a flat. They remind me of a flat for someone who wants more of a round sound. Which is fine. Brighter flats would include things like Rotos and EB Cobalts--both have a more well rounded tone IMO. There are others but that's not my thing when I want flats.

This seems pretty spot-on with my experience, and is the same way I hear chromes. I prefer the DTFs, myself. More booty, less "sheen."

I definitely prefer the Labella tone over the Chromes, and the tension/stiffness of standard gauge Chromes is too high. Labella 760FL are perfect IMO, in tone, smooth feel, tension, and sound in the mix.

I had a set of Chromes on my P bass for 6 years and just replaced them a few months ago with some LaBellas. I went from a very well worn set of Chromes to a new set of Labellas, but I believe I like the Labellas better.
