I don't think I need anything fancy (aside from tap tempo) so I figured the DD-7 would be the obvious go-to. Anybody want to lay some options on me that would be better for the price (or less)? Challah!

I really like the EHX Deluxe Memory Boy. Great feature set.
The Hardwire and the TC Flashback both seem like nice delays, but the fact that you can't connect an external tap-tempo switch is a big turn-off to me. Built in tap-tempos typically require that you hold the pedal switch for a couple of seconds before you can use it to tap in the tempo, and then hold the switch again to return it to on/off-mode. If you notice that your delay is off-tempo in the middle of a song and you need to re-tap it, those extra seconds can be really annoying. Not to mention if you're impatient and let the switch go too soon, you will actually switch the effect off.
The Flashback seems to be the best solution, on paper at least, with the audio tap function (strum quarter-notes while holding the pedal down). But I wonder how well it functions in reality. Anybody have experience with this?
I like how the Memory Boy Dx combines analog delay with digital controls, although I'm personally no fan of analog delays for bass. The natural signal deterioration sounds awesome on lead synths and guitar, but on a bass I feel like it's just muddying things up.
That's all a matter of taste, of course. I still like analog for short, ambience delays, but far prefer digital for rhythmical stuff using longer delay times.
IMO you can get better features in a digital delay, not to mention that EHXs build quality is inconsistent at best...
