Found this Invalid Link Removed on eBay. I'm intrigued, but equally frustrated at the lack of information available. Anyone on here know anything about it? Cheers chaps....

Delta Bass 300 2x8 Combo - Info Needed

A quick google search doesn't find anything. Never seen one before. Probably never will in North America.
But, it's only got a pair of 8" speakers. That's not going to get you very far no matter how much amplifier power there is. And it looks pretty heavy. If it's cheap enough it might be okay for a bedroom practice amp or for backing up a couple acoustic guitarists in a folk club.
However, there are much better deals available on better and more powerful amps that you can actually use in a variety of venues.
Yeah I've asked the seller for more info, but nothing yet.
8's can drive bass perfectly well - take at look at Ashdown's range of cab's - heck Phil Jones stuff uses 5's. I only play now in lighter settings, so a powerful amp (for me at least) is not really an issue. Just found the combo interesting, and as no info came up through Google, thought I'd try the knowledge base that is TB to fill in the missing gaps....

I remember these!
They were a joint project by Carlsbro and Overwater, designed to compete with the likes of Trace Elliot and other higher-end gear.
For some reason they sank without trace (sic), probably because they were very expensive.

ive owned two 6oo heads and they are great, a bit heavy but really did sound great. they were expensive in their day but bombed due to carlsbro label...but i love em and still have one as a back up...however ive know of at least 2 die suddenly, they are old...

Just to interject in this thread as I was behind the Delta Bass project;
The project was cooked up between myself and the then owner/MD of Carlsbro who I had known and respected for many years; aided and abetted by Phil Mulford (highly respected London based freelance bass player).
Carlsbro had an excellent reputation for reliable, well built amplification but had always lacked the sexiness of some other established brands of the time so the Carlsbro name was a disadvantage to establishing a high end range of amplifiers which is why we chose not to put the Carlsbro logo on the front of either the heads or cabs; but use the Delta name that Carlsbro had established for a line of pro quality PA equipment, highly respected by installers and hire companies in the pro-audio field
Delta Bass was initially very successful (more so outside the UK in fact) and I earned a good return in royalties for a year or two
However the reason why Delta Bass ultimately and prematurely disappeared, was two fold; partly because the Carlsbro sales team failed to understand the concept and target market (in the UK particularly), by mostly because Stuart sadly died half way through the project and the whole company went into terminal decline and went into administration within a year of Stuarts untimely demise (with a full order book!)
Delta Bass did have its faults but in many ways was well ahead of its time, incorporating features that did not reappear on bass systems for many years afterwards; including switchable dual channels, programmable EQ, bootstrapped variable impedance inputs, professional DI facilities and notch filters to deal with feedback on acoustic instruments.
Incidentally I know of a number of working pro players who still own and use Delta Bass heads as their reliable back-up amp

Thanks Chris - great to hear the full story. Like most UK players (of a certain age) I was a young Carlsbro user....cheap and reliable stuff, at the time, but never considered "high end". I can see why you used the Delta name.

Very very old thread I know but I just picked up one of these "Delta 300 Bass heads and a decent cab although not a original Delta branded cab for £150. It really does sound the part. I had never heard of them and this was one of the few places that has any mention of this gear on the web.
So here I am, hoping some more info might now be available since this thread was first posted a few years ago

Hi guys, was just looking for info on the Carlsboro Delta 300 and found your thread here, Ive just bought one today 2nd hand obviously lol from ebay, its got the cab with 4 x 6" and 1 x tweeter, just got home with it earlier this afternoon after collecting it and got it fired up, omg, what a sound, its brilliant, very loud, unfortunately very heavy but hey its the sound from the thing that matters.
What I would like to know is if any of you guys know of any other info thats available and instruction manuals, are they available anywhere as I ve had good look around and just not finding much anything.

I have not been able to find out much more either, it's as if it never existed in most sites I have looked
I would like to get a hold of a original Delta cab to go with the head
