There has to be someone out there in talkbass world who has one of these. These 2 basses are next to impossible to find for sale used, and it's even harder to find any kind of demo video or other recorded use of them. Both of these are "ones that got away" for me.
First, the Veillette-Citron VC-I and VC-II. As used by Tina Weymouth with Talking Heads in Stop Making Sense film.
I had the chance to buy one of these about 10 years ago when it showed up on the local craigslist. Widow selling off her late husband's collection. Her asking price was $1,000; I lost a small bidding war. Never seen one since. I didn't even get to play it.
Next, the Fury Tornado, made by the late Glenn McDougall of Canada.
One of these randomly turned up used in the local Guitar Center in 2005/2006. I hadn't seen them outside of a Bass Player magazine review. This one I did get to play. I might have spent too long playing it, as when I came back with cash at store opening the next morning, it was gone. Sad day. I would have bought it the day I found it but it was late afternoon & my bank had just closed. Too much to put on my cards & too late to withdraw the cash. Sad day.
