Demo tapes/CDs for getting gigs....

Yep. I'm guessing that's a good match for most club owners' attention spans. Definitely for my ADD-brain.
See I'm the opposite. I suffer from hyper-fixation... which my bandmates love most of the time. You want some PR material, a YouTube video, some random piece of equipment built??? I'm your guy and it'll probably be done in 24 hours.

Tasks me with making a brief mix tape... and I revive an 18 year old thread to talk about a 15 minute mp3 demo.

It's my superpower...

Used to be mine too, though for all the wrong reasons (hint: I attend a lot of meetings).

Nowadays I fixate on what needs to be done and am able to shift gears somewhat better by simply accepting that whatever task I'm now presented with (compared with 15 minutes ago) is apparently what I'm supposed to be doing right now.

My ADD superpower is my ability to turn on a dime quickly on-stage in response to whatever dynamic direction the BL provides or drummer hints at.

This makes a basic meat-and-potatoes bassist like me appear to be a higher-level player than I actually am.

The person doing the booking usually won't listen through a solo. When you send them a 15 minute file, they will skip around randomly and make their decision after about 30 seconds of that.

Surprised if your demo gets beyond 15 seconds of attention, considering they get hundreds of bands asking for consideration.

15 seconds to determine if the band has it together enough not to drive away patrons.

Then the rest, they'll glean from their interaction with you. Are you not a flake? Do you have experience making this work? Will you show up on time and prepared? Will you keep it together? Will my interactions with you be profitable and drama-free?
