Design for 1st Build

Hey everyone!
I've been lurking out here for a while and I've decided to undertake my first build. I made a full-size drawing of one of my favorite designs and I'd love any comments or criticism you can give me.
I'm planning on:
Neck-Thru body design
Fretted (yeah, sorry, ran out of time to draw those in)
4-string
maple neck, rosewood fingerboard
Going to have 1 humbucker near the bridge.
I'm still waiting on my hardware. It should be here soon
Also, if anyone has any advice for wood for the body: since it's my first build, I'd prefer to find something on the cheaper side, but I'd love a dark wood to contrast with the maple. Ideas?

I think that lower horn might look nice with a little bit of curve on the bottom. I just made a quick ms paint thing to show what I mean.

The body is cool. The "chopped off" lower horn is very personal.

The paddle headstock is disgusting, though. Ugly on its own and not in harmony with neck or body.

+1 on the headstock, consider angling it a bit more like this.

I actually like that headstock overall, maybe just make it a little rounded on the sharp edges, and it'll be pretty warwick-y. cool indeed.

for wood: black walnut is dark (ish). it's probably the most dark for your dollar of any wood, as it's not overly expensive. I'm a bit biased towards it, though, as I found a beautiful crotch peice in a pile of shorts at my local lumberyard, and now it's the top for #1 in progress.

Bardolph, I do like the curve idea but I was rather attached to the completely "chopped off" horn. I suppose we'll see.
Vindy500 and Wilser, I actually really like both of those headstock designs; I'll probably make lifesize drawings of both and see which I like better. The reason I went with the paddle headstock in the first place was I was trying to make it easier for myself (first time, right?)
And thanks NamelessOne for the black walnut tip, i'll defenitely keep an eye out. But I'm having trouble finding ANY wood in this city, all anyone has is cedar and "knotty" pine!!!
